Most medium-quality galvanized irons are used. Galvanized irons are cheaper, lighter in weight, and easier to handle and transport. Galvanized iron sizes vary from 15 mm to 150mm. Galavanized iron is generally manufactured according to IS-1239 (pt-I) 1990. Generally, screwed & socketed pipes are used. Galvanized Iron Welded Pipes shall be manufactured from hot-rolled steel strips for welded pipes conforming to IS 10748 or cold-rolled low-carbon steel sheets and strips conforming to IS 513. The welded galvanized steel is then passed through sizing sections, where any dimensional deviations are corrected. Then, automatically operated cutting devices cut the galvanized iron into the required lengths. Galvanized irons are then pressure tested for any leaks. The varnishing and galvanizing of pipes are done as per specific requirements. The process of galvanizing involves applying a layer of zinc to steel or iron to prevent rusting or corrosion.
